Alternaria blight, caused by the fungus Alternaria alternata, is a common disease affecting various crops, especially under warm and humid conditions. It primarily targets the aerial parts of plants, leading to reduced photosynthetic activity, defoliation, and yield loss. The disease spreads rapidly in conducive weather, making early detection and management crucial.

Symptoms

• Leaf Lesions: Small brown lesions expand into gray-brown or dark brown spots with concentric rings. Older lesions may dry out, creating "shot holes."
• Necrotic Spots: Circular, necrotic lesions develop quickly and can coalesce into large patches.
• Blighting: Affects leaves, pods, and branches, causing blighting, severe defoliation, and branch drying.
• Sporulation: Warm, humid conditions favor fungal sporulation, accelerating disease progression.
